Pipe Major Henry Forsyth, Sovereigns Piper: Volume 1 Pipe Major Forsyth was born in 1872 and enlisted
in the Scots Guards in 1887. He served in the South African War of 1899 - 1902 under General Rundel.
He was appointed piper to the Duke of York (later George V) in 1905. Before his death in 1941 he made
recordings for several companies including Edison and Edison Bell.
