Henderson....Not!

Bagpipes made by P. Henderson Ltd. are renowned for outstanding sound and performance and are highly sought after.  Many Henderson bagpipes were stamped P. Henderson Ltd. either between the cord beads or directly beneath the lower cord bead.
Not all "Henderson" bagpipes bear the "Henderson" stamp.  To add to our frustration, not all bagpipes that bear the "Henderson" stamp are "Henderson" made!

By the late 1960's Peter Henderson Ltd. was suffering badly from neglect.  Little money was left in the company to look after essentials.  Orders were being farmed out to other makers.  The images below are of bagpipes that all bear the familiar P. Henderson Ltd. stamp either between the cord beads or just beneath the lower cord bead.  When you encounter a Henderson stamped bagpipe, look for familiar characteristics and beware of anything that looks like it was Hardie or Lawrie made.  They are "Henderson" in name only.    They are all all poorly made for unsuspecting consumers.
