Henderson 1930 – African Blackwood

1. Stocks are robust and tapered with a rounded bottom

2. Tenors are slightly concave.  Beads are nicely rounded and relatively large

3. Bell is full and nicely proportioned, generally slightly larger than Lawrie bell.

4. Cord beads are full and uniquely “Henderson” in shape.  Makers stamp may appear between cord beads, beneath cord beads or be missing altogether.

5. Tuning chamber is slightly tapered. – The most striking thing about Henderson bagpipes is that they are almost perfectly proportioned in every respect.  Nothing appears “too large” or “too small”.  Because Henderson employed many turners over the years, there are many “Henderson” style bagpipes that are perfect copies of bagpipes made by P. Henderson Bagpipes Ltd.
