James Robertson – 1930 – African Blackwood

1. Massive projecting mounts (usually made in two pieces)

2. Concave taper to between projecting mounts – also note small bead and wide combing.

3. Projecting bead on bush – small diameter bush bore

4. Tapered bell with bead on ring

5. Relatively straight fountain under bell

6. Small cord beads

7. Convex taper on tuning chambers / stocks

8. Large rounded bottom bead on stocks – bores may be standard and straight or they may be over-sized from bottom - slightly convex sides.
