Order Your Certificate of Authenticity

I have been documenting Great Highland Bagpipes for almost fifty years. A curiosity grew into a passion and over the years I’ve assembled thousands of pictures and words. I’ve restored and refurbished countless bagpipes which brought me closer yet to an understanding of the turners who made these instruments. I maintain close relationships with scholars and enthusiasts worldwide as we untangle and document the history behind this remarkable instrument.

A Certificate of Authenticity (COA) can be an important and integral element of your application for a CITES Permit, which is a requirement now for bagpipes containing African Blackwood and/or ivory. It’s also critical should there ever be the need to file an insurance claim. I am called upon regularly by the insurance industry regarding claims for damaged, lost, or stolen bagpipes. My work is universally recognized and respected. I have a 100% success rating regarding my documentation and opinion of value. I am frequently called in for a second opinion.

I can prepare and provide you with a Certificate of Authenticity and Opinion of Value to be filed with your home insurance carrier. Should it become necessary, my documentation will support your claim. An update as to value can be provided at the time of your claim.

So, don’t wait for that accident to happen. Snap a few photos and send them over.

COA Requirements:

  • Full name and address
  • White background
  • No angles or shadows
  • Leave them relatively high resolution (200 DPI or greater)
  • Step back to minimize lens distortion
  • The whole bagpipe and then specialty shots

What you’ll get:

  • Detailed confirmation of Authenticity
  • Opinion of Value
  • Accepted by Insurance Companies
  • Excellent Turn-around Time
  • Attractive PDF Certificate with embedded photos of your bagpipe
  • Peace of mind
